Thanksgiving Feast

Nov-18-2009 By Jessica

Question: Why do they charge extra for an “adult lunch” if they give you the same size portion as a “child”? LOL.

David and I went to the Thanksgiving Feast at the two little girls’ school today. Small perk of David working a later shift… normally he’d have been working. And, I just took a couple of hours off. To see how excited McKenzie was that I surprised her by being there, was TOTALLY worth it. She was so excited. Made my heart smile.

Bailey’s lunch was at 11am. We were waiting for her class to come down from the classroom and David spied Miss Bailey a mile away…. I don’t think he saw her before she left for school, so he didn’t know what she was wearing, but he could tell it was her…. she was dancing her way to the cafeteria along the yellow line. When I say this girl doesn’t walk, she dances…. I am not kidding! Okay, there are times where she’s not dancing, but in that instance, she’s pretending to be a cat or a dog and on all fours. LOL. What a goofball!

Lunch was good, just like I remember from when I was in 1st grade! I gave my pie to Bailey… just ‘cuz I’m just a nice mommy, that’s why. :) Maybe because I knew I was going to get another one when we ate with Kenzie. LOL.

We then headed for the book fair where Bailey picked up and put down every book there I think… she finally settled on one and we headed back out to wait for McKenzie. She had an exciting day today, because she also got to go on a field trip to see the Charlie and the Chocolate Factory play. :)

David and I decided to eat again. LOL. We figured we could have just taken turns eating, but oh well. Really when all was said and done we’d felt like we’d gotten a full meal after we’d eaten 2. LOL. And I ate his pie… ‘cuz he’s a just a good hubby, that’s why. :)

Tanner in a Tux

Nov-17-2009 By Jessica

Well, it’s been awhile since I’ve seen my boy in a tux.

Ok this picture is not good. Again, it’s with my dingbat cell phone. I would have went to grab my beloved Rebel, but… we were running out the door, so the cell phone crapcam had to suffice. It almost looks like he was an angel sent straight from Heaven? Ehh, most days I’d agree ;) But the lighting is kind of odd, isn’t it?

Anyway, Mr. Man is in the school band and their “uniform” for concerts is a tuxedo. Poor guy… his pants are 30’s. I think he’s MAYBE a 26… and in a pair of Tony Lama’s… He said there was only one pair smaller than what he ended up with, and they were snatched up by the other “little person” in the school band. LOL. We will have to get him a different pair.

He plays the clarinet, in case you are wondering. And he’s very good at it! He’s been playing for 4 years and just keeps getting better.

Little Turkey!

Nov-16-2009 By Jessica

Miss Bailey had to decorate a turkey for school this week. She had crafts supplies from one end of the kitchen to the other. I watched her decorate it, but I didn’t do it for her…. she created this masterpiece ALL by herself. The only thing anyone helped her with was the hat, and that was Ashlyn’s idea. Just because little 6 year olds holding homemade turkeys are so darn cute, there are 3 pictures below all for your enjoyment :)

Science Olympiad and Boppin Bo’s

Nov-14-2009 By Jessica

McKenzie had her first Science Olympiad competition today. Wow, there were ALOT of schools and students from all over the county particiapting! She didn’t win, but she had a great time with all of the competitions from building bridges with marshmallows to launching gummy bears (um, that would have been my favorite LOL). She had fun walking around the Clark College campus and now has dreams of going there when she’s older. Hopefully, as she gets older, her expectations will be higher. Not that there is anything bad about Clark College… I went there and liked it, but doesn’t every parent dream of their child getting a Harvard scholarship? LOL.

Anyway, I took lots of pictures… but with my cell phone (so the pics aren’t great :( ), some are from Grandma Lisa’s cell phone also. I really think I need a good pocket camera. I love my Canon Rebel… but sometimes it’s not always convenient to take every place I go.

Anyhow… onto the pics…

Science Olympiad

Isn’t this shirt cool? I thought so, would be a neat shirt for Tanner to wear (though I’m sure he doesn’t feel that way) LOL (that is my maiden name and my 3 older kids’ last names). I was pretty proud that I was the only one at our table that knew what element K stood for. I rarely can say I know something that my husband doesn’t (when applied to this type of information LOL!).

Science Olympiad

We then headed to Boppin Bo’s for lunch. We’d never been in there before… but happened to be a few doors down at the Verizon store and it looked like a fun place to have lunch. This place is very cool. The staff is all dressed in 50’s diner attire. There are nostalgic toys, signs, etc. all over the walls. The menus have the family story typed up on the back, a tell tale sign that you are in a nice family owned/ran restaurant. They had funny names for their burgers and sides. Each table had a little tub of Trivia Pursuit cards on them, which were fun to play with… McKenzie and Bailey both had fun taking turns reading the questions for the older people at the table to try to answer. One of Bailey’s questions was “What Roman Emperor was at the first Olympics?”. We heard it as “woman”, because she still says her R’s like she was born in Brooklyn LOL. It was funny because it stumped Grandma and Daddy both with the answer, as it was obviously a man and not a woman!

Bailey’s food was served in a car!
Boppin Bo's 1

They have daily specials and Saturday’s was 1/2 price ice cream sundaes. They have a whole page of different ones to pick from and they all sounded so goood! It was hard to pick one, but we all made sure to save room to share one. David, McKenzie and I shared a vanilla ice cream with hot fudge syrup, peanut butter syrup and peanuts. It was SO good. The other side of the table (Grandma Lisa, Tanner, and Bailey) shared something that had chocolate and vanilla and whip cream LOL. I can’t remember what it was exactly. They had a sundae that is big enough to feed a whole table, 12 scoops of ice cream and tons of toppings for $19.95 and on half price day it would be $10…. would bes a great idea for a birthday treat! :)

And what’s a sundae without smearing a bit on your daughter’s nose? :)

Glade Candles Deal @ Target *HOT*

Nov-10-2009 By Jessica

Glade

Fantastic deal alert!! SC Johnson just released new Glade coupons on their website. These coupons can go fast, I was just able to print FOUR sets of them, by using the back button on Internet Explorer. And, right now, Target is running a promotion to make these candles super cheap! I have to say… their holiday scents smell sooo good! They have Bayberry Spice (which sounds odd, but smells excellent), Homemade Gingerbread, Hollyberry Wreath, Peppermint Crush, French Vanilla, and Apple Cinnamon.

The Target deal is… buy 5 products from the holiday scents collection priced at $2.50 each and get a $5 gift card. One of the coupons is “Buy a scented oil candle holder and get a free refill”. The free refill counts as one of the five you buy for the gift card, so if you print two of those coupons, you will only need to pay for three items. The math work out to something like this:

Buy 2 scented oil cadle holders (holiday collection) = $5.00
Get 2 Refills Free = $0.00
Buy 1 additional refill pack and use $1.00 off coupon = $1.50
Total = $6.50 that you pay OUT OF POCKET
You will get a $5 gift card automatically at the register (the register prompts the cashier, you don’t even have to ask), which results in a total of $1.50 for five Glade items!!

There are other coupons available to print too, like $1.50 off two jar candles…
Buy 5 Jar candles, use 2 of the $1.50 off coupons = $9.50, out of pocket
Get $5 gift card
Total = $4.50 for 5 candles - Great deal!

There is one other scenario to try out too…

Buy 1 Glade Sce-ted Oil Warmer Get 1 Free = $3.99
Buy 2 Glade candles get $1.50 off = $3.50
Buy 1 Scented Oil Refill = $2.50
Total = $4.99 after gift card.

And another tip…. these items often have coupons in the products. I did this deal last week before these coupons were released and there was a coupon in the scented oil candle tin, for $2.00 off any purchase of 2 Glade items, so I will be using this coupon in conjunction with this sale to get an even better deal.

SC Johnson Rebate

If you are interested in doing mail in rebates, SC Johnson has one out right now that you can send in for THREE times, normally these are restricted to one per household!! It’s a $5 rebate when you purchase 3 SC Johnson (Glade) products, so you could get up to $15 back!

CLICK HERE TO VIEW THE REBATE DETAILS

That would make all 3 of the above scenarios free, and even paying you to purchase these products…

I love deals like this ;)

Daily Click ~ Tanga.com

Nov-10-2009 By Jessica

I do ALOT of Internet surfing during the day. I work from home. I’m tied to my computer for about 8 hours a day, that is outside of my personal “fun computer time”, and I often get BORED. So I click around to different sites and “explore” the Internet. David does the same at his job, but has access to very few sites, as they are filtered. He is going to reach the end of Wikipedia some day, I know he will LOL. Anyway, I am going to try to post a link to a site that one of us visits (kids, me or David) with a little review. These aren’t going to be paid reviews, just sharing a link that we find interesting or helpful, because who doesn’t need another site in their favorites anyway? ;)

Today’s…

Tanga

I stumbled across this website a few weeks ago, and it’s quickly becoming a daily click for me. They offer a daily sale with one item at an extremely low discounted price (and cheap shipping!). They also offer 1 item at a low sale price in these categories: Tshirts, Magazines, Games/Toys, Good Til Gone. It’s usually 1 special per category, so it’s a quick click to see if you are interested in anything they have up for sale. It’s alot like “Woot”, in the way that they put something new up each day in those categories.

The other cool thing about Tanga, is that they have games, puzzle games, and a daily contest where you pick 3 numbers and you have a chance to win a free tshirt. It’s just kind of a fun site to keep in the favorites for boredom buster moments…. the gams/puzzles are actually kind of neat. :)

This is not a paid review, just me passing on a neat site to check out! Thumbs up!

“Invisible Children”

Nov-7-2009 By Jessica

This post was written by Tanner…… he saw a video at school a few days ago and it really hit him…. he asked me to post this.

This is a serious matter that requires serious attention. During school, I saw a movie about a war going on in a small country, smaller than the state of Washington in the U.S., for quite some time now. One man, the leader of this terror-causing force known of as the Lord’s Resistance Army(LRA) has been abducting the children of Uganda while they sleep. this man’s name is Joseph Kony. There are arrest warrants out for him, but he continuously evades capture, peace talks, and any signs of peaceful end to this war. His reign of terror has started spreading to multiple other countries such as Congo and Sudan. please help end this man’s reign of terror. Check out the project for saving these children from being used in this sick, twisted man’s evil plots by clicking here. These children, once abducted by other children who were already abducted by Joseph Kony, adults who work for Kony, or Kony himself are abused, and trained to be soldiers. They are told that if they try to leave they will be killed. These children are forced daily to do terrible things that many full grown adults would be scarred from. Kony has been known for slicing off misbehaving children’s noses and lips with machetes. I beg of you to donate and do your part for this organization, even a small donation will help tremendously. Thank you for taking the time to read this.

The name of the project “invisible children,” actually was thought up because these children are being abducted in such a small country, and not many efforts have been put forth to stop Joseph Kony’s tyrannical actions.

Please remember, that this is almost like what Hitler was doing. Manipulating people to kill other innocent lives. but also remember that you can help stop this madness. please, please help… thank you.
