Found this coupon the other day and I had forgotten about it… but then saw it again over at Coupon Geek and it reminded me to print it out. It’s a pdf file, so there are no limits to how many coupons you can print. (These would make great stocking stuffers!) Just print fast before they take it down. :) Coupon Geek suggests using this Q in combination with the Walgreens Easy Saver coupon for $2 off a brush, so you’d have a total of $4 off one of their Ouchless line of brushes. I don’t know what those brushes retail for, but it sounds like a good deal! I also know that Walmart and Target have the ouchless headbands and ponytail holders Ashlyn loves to wear to basketball and she seems to lose them almost as fast as I buy them. I think they are right around $2.00 so this coupon would make them almost free!

McKenzie swept the sidewalk earlier today in hopes of earning some extra school clothes money. She does this often, she’ll get a wild hair and make this BIG list of different chores that she thinks is worth $5. She gets as far as the final chore on the list and is then bored and moves onto do something else.

After she did her sweeping, she heard some buzz around our neighborhood that there was a garage sale, on the next street over. There went her jump start on school clothes. She hit up Daddy for cash, and got $3.00. I tried to explain to her, not to buy anything that we don’t need that would end up just going back into a garage sale we would have later. I probably should have walked with her but I kind of wanted to see what she’d come up with.

She came back a little bit later with change that she was going to share with Bailey, by taking her for a return trip to the sale. So, Bailey comes running in and says she bought me something. She pulls out this white crocheted pot holder. Not something I think I’d use to grab ahold of a hot pan with, it’s really thin. But it’s pretty and someone obviously put some hard work into it. She tells me “I almost bought you a jammie dress”…. David thought that was funny! Oh my. Glad she decided against it! I’m not sure I could have made myself wear something like that, EVEN for her sweet little face. She also bought this rather large blanket… with cardinals and birdhouses on it.

I asked McKenzie what she’d bought… and she said “oh just some baskets”… and I kind of thought to myself, “sensible purchase” LOL. Then she goes and gets them and I couldn’t help but laugh a little. She was so proud of the deal she had gotten on them. The guy had them marked $2 each (no wonder why they were still there Sunday night of a 3 day garage sale!) and sold them to her $1 for both of them. She said “mommy, I got $3.00 off!” At least she was looking for a bargain! That’s my girl :) I was waiting for her to rattle off something about the percent of markdown that was LOL. It was cute, we got a good chuckle out of it.

Now what am I to do with this JUNK? The girls decided Great Grandma will like the pot holders (did I tell you, McKenzie got the matching one… they were in the FREE box she tells me), her favorite color is purple and Bailey says “they are her style” :) and Plain Grandma loves birdhouses, so she may get that blanket. Maybe Grandma Lisa needs a nice new basket. :) Mckenzie has plans for those though, she wants to put dirt and seeds in them. LOL. GIRLS! A deal is a deal only if it’s something you NEED! They’ve got some learning to do!

But I will say it was $3 of entertainment :)

This will come in handy for Summer parties! I got it in my email, but it looks like anyone can use it!

Here are the FAR items for this month (thanks Centsible Shopper) - the only thing I will be needing are the light bulbs and Orajel Rinse (this stuff just sounds cool - I have sent the kids up to brush teeth countless times where they’ve returned within what seems like seconds “yah mom, I brushed them, I swear”… I’m excited to try this product!).

(total spent $4.95)

* 5 Johnson & Johnson’s Soap Buddes (Regularly .97, with $1 off printable coupon = FREE)
* 5 Glade Wisp Flameless Candle Starter Kits (On sale for $5.99,
$5 off printable coupon = .99
)
* 1 Glade Scented Oil Refill (Not on sale, but free with coupon)

** My little plug for Glade products: I am addicted to smelly things, especially candles, air freshners, and the like. I love Glade products. I have been purchasing these for years and years. I love them, but they are expensive, so I do only purchase them on sale and with a good coupon. A few weeks ago, I took a moment to email the makers of Glade…. and I told them how much I like their products and they sent me a coupon for a free product. I used that today :)

The Glade Wisps are great for an air freshner for your car, bathroom, walk in closet, etc. The candles are a little goofy…. but, the wisp refills are over $2.50 alone, so getting the candle and a refill for .99 is a great deal, and it comes with 2 Energizer batteries (LOL). Plus, the technology on the warmer units themselves does get better over time and I was ready to replace the few Wisp holders I already have. It was $$ well spent :)

(Total Spent $26.98)

Albertsons has these great deals when you mix and match participating products, you spend a certain amount, you get instant cash off your bill at checkout. They have different specials each week… this week it was $5 off your purchase of $15 or more of certain things. We got these items for $10 (or works out to about .77 each):

* 1 jar Best Food Mayonnaise (.77 each)
* 2 tubs Country Crock Butter (.77 each)
* 4 bottles Lawry’s Marinades (.77 each)
* 2 jars Skippy Peanut Butter (.77 each)
* 4 tubs (small size) Breyer’s Ice Cream (.77 each)

Second $5 off, when you spend $15 deal:

* 5 All Small & Mighty Laundry Soaps (Sale: 5 for $15, $5 off at checkout when you spend $15, makes them $2 each with $1 off coupon = $1.00 per bottle!)
* 3 bottles Tree Top Apple Juice (used Fred Meyer ad coupon 3 for $5 = $1.67/bottle)
* 4 packages of Doritos ($3.00 with Albertsons B1G1 Free Sale and Fred Meyer ad coupon = .75 each - YES full sized bags :))
* 2 boxes of Challenge Butter (Fred Meyer ad coupon = .99 each)
* 2 packages of Goldfish Mixups Crackers ($1.00 each - this was what I call checkout shocker or “Where did this come from Miss Bailey?” impulse buy LOL)

I plan to go back, because they have a B1G1 Free sale going on meat and cheese and other products that I didn’t have time to check on. I also want to go back for more All laundry soap (I made the checker Ohhh and Ahhh over that deal LOL)….

And on my way home I got a

free mango Fruitista from Taco Bell. You can print out a couple of coupons from that site, they are GOOD!

I am not an expert at this, but I’m learning! I admit I mostly grab these ideas from other sites (I use lots, but two of my favorites are Money Saving Mom and Hot Coupon World). It really just takes only a little bit of my time and if it helps us save money and continue using products we may not be able to enjoy with the rising costs of groceries, then I’m willing to do it. And the thrill of a good deal IS pretty exciting :)

If you are interested in any of the deals at Target, they are good through Saturday (the Soap Buddies are reg. priced at .97, so you can get them any time for free with the printable coupons). If you are interested in the Albertsons deals, I’d go quickly… things were going fast there, but that sale is good through Tuesday :)

All Small & Mighty: $1.00 each at Albertsons (sale through 5/20)

All Small & Mighty is on sale this week at Albertsons (our Northwest region does anyway - double check your local store if you aren’t in the NW) for 5 for $15 and when you buy 5 of them, you get $5 off your total at checkout, so that makes them $2 a bottle. You can print unlimited (well, I printed 5, but I assume it’s unlimited :) coupons for $1 off here. That makes them $1 a bottle or $5 for 160 loads of wash! Woohoo! Great Deal!! Now if only I could talk myself into believing that little TINY cap full of detergent washes a super large load of laundry!

We are trying to cut back on groceries as much as we can. I would say we probably spent a minimum of $500/month at the grocery store, previously. We are trying to spend between $50 to $75/week now. I was able to buy all of the above for $12.53! This will be quick grab n go breakfasts and snacks for the coming weeks. It’s a very nice stockpile and I’m proud of it!
My first stop was Albertsons, and I got:
10 Gatorades (these will be for my son to take to his Track Meets and a few for the girls for softball - these ended up being TWENTY cents each… they are the big ones too… the small ones are $1.25 at the concessions stand!). (*see note below)
20 boxes of Quaker breakfast cookies, bars, and squares. (*see note below)
4 boxes of Pasta Roni (which you can’t see in the picture, they are right of the juice).
1 pkg Lays Stax
3 bottles of Langer’s Cran Raspberry juice

My second stop was Target, and I got:
4 packages of Lipton Tea On The Go. Regular price .99, Free after $1.00 printable Target coupon from here.
7 pkgs of Lay’s Cracker Stacks (*see note below)
1 Johnson’s Buddies Bar. Regular price .99, Free after this printable Johnson & Johnsons coupon.

What you don’t see pictured is some of the Gatorade bottles, they are in the back of my van for softball games. Also, I got free pizza hut express breadsticks at Target coupon
here.

I also bought some fresh fruit, peanut butter, butter and a few other things that were full price. I spent under $25 on all of it though! Taking this and the $25 spent a few days ago on meat and other staples, we still have $25 left to spend for the week without breaking budget. Yay!
*Some notes:
I have been purchasing coupons on eBay. We do get the Sunday paper, but only one of them. I wish we had access to more coupon inserts, but we don’t. I have not yet gotten the hang of trading coupons on various coupon forums, but that is something I’ll look at in the future.

I do cut every coupon that comes in the Sunday paper now so I’ll have a pretty good supply before too long, but for deals like the above Quaker or Gatorade, I wanted to stockpile. There are no limits on how many coupons a person can use (in most cases), so I turned to eBay. For around $2 I was able to buy coupons in quantities of up to 20 for these products, $2 turned into a $20 savings, and I’ll take that any day! eBay is a great resource for frugal shopping and purchasing coupons!
When I get a store ad, I sit down and compare the ad specials to the coupons I know I have or that are out there. Albertsons has been having some amazing sales going on lately. I took advantage of 2 of them this week. One was the Quaker, buy 10 for $12, with $1 coupons on each item, that makes them each .20!! The other one was the Gatorade/Pasta Roni one, that one was buy 15 for $12 or .80 each. I purchased .50 off coupons from eBay which brought those .80 gatorades down to .30 each which is a nice savings. I’m not buying stuff we won’t use, I’m buying stuff we do use and at a fraction of a price.
I saved $9 at Target. My total out of pocket was only $4.00!!
I saved $106.85 at Albertsons. My total out of pocket (including some reg. priced groceries as well) was $24.68!! The cashier AND the lady behind me were both totally wow’ed and asked me how I did it. This is the first time I’ve saved that much, I was almost afraid the coupon police would jump out and arrest me LOL…. so I didn’t really say much other than I use lots of coupons and they had an excellent ad. :o)

I have one more stop to make this week at Walgreens to get dish soap and possibly some Aveeno products. If you are interested in reading more about saving money or getting items you use every day for FREE, these are my two absolute FAVORITE sites to check out daily:
Money Saving Mom and Hot Coupon World

Webkinz Day Extravangza starts on Friday, April 25th! This is part of the celebration of Webkinz Day on April 29th. Select Webkinz retailers have agreed to give away one Webkinz pet to the first 500 customers who make a $10 purchase at their store. Some stores have games and contests going on as well. You can go here to find out if there is a participating retailer nearby. We have several in our area. From what I’ve read the stores can limit the selection of free animals, but probably aren’t going to. You know where we’ll be Friday after school :) My kids have birthday money left to spend still, and can get a couple of Webkinz clothes or a few packs of trading cards and a new pet all for $10!

Click here to search for a participating Webkinz retailer.

I found this deal on Crystal’s blog. You sign up for Kohl’s email specials and they send you a $5 off coupon (minimum purchase of $5). I signed up for the coupon and got it delivered to my email within 24 hours or so and it is good through April! I love this store, so no question I can make good use of this coupon :)

About 2 months ago, I canceled my Netflix membership and we no longer rent DVD’s from Blockbuster nor PPV. We’ve discovered Redbox! Providing you can return the movies on time (9pm the next day), these make for a GREAT deal on movie rentals! They are $1.00 + tax each!
Or free if you have a code. I found a list of Redbox codes online. You get one free rental per code, and each code can be used one time per credit card. You just have to check out the movies separately.

Here is the list…. the newest codes are in the left colum, the right column has the oldest and I don’t know how many are valid (to my knowledge, they all are, but I can’t guarantee that :).. that’s why I text quite a few to my cell phone so I have them on me when I go to rent something.

is great for Redbox info!

Just thought I’d share a Bath and Bodyworks deal I am hoping to take advantage of this week. Signature Collection shower gels, bubble bath, body spray, etc are 5 for $25 through Wednesday. They are regularly $10.50 each. There are two coupons that should be able to be used together to make this a whorthwhile deal.

$10 off $30 Coupon - which means you can get 6 of the above products for $20! This would regularly cost about $63!

Get a 2oz Lotion for free with this coupon.

And, the other day my mom and I went to the Holiday Food and Gift Show. I talked about it in a previous post. Anyway, one of the vendors were selling graham cracker toffee. It was very good, but overpriced for what seems like a pretty inexpensive and easy thing to make. I found a recipe online to share!

Graham Cracker Toffee

½ cup unsalted butter
½ cup brown sugar
1/8 teaspoon salt
12 chocolate or plain graham crackers (half a 14-ounce box)

1½ cups semisweet chocolate chips (9 ounces)

1 cup toasted pecans or walnuts (or other nuts), chopped

Preheat oven to 375F.

Melt the butter, brown sugar and salt in a heavy saucepan over moderate heat. Cook
until smooth, about five minutes, stirring frequently.

Meanwhile, line a 15×10 rimmed baking sheet with foil, leaving a slight overhang.

Arrange the crackers in a single layer on the sheet, breaking to fit as necessary. Pour the butter mixture over the
crackers, spreading evenly and completely covering the crackers. Bake for 10 minutes.

Scatter chips evenly over top, return to oven until chocolate softens, 2 – 3 minutes.

With a spatula, spread melted chocolate evenly over the crackers. Sprinkle nuts evenly over top the chocolate.

Cool for 30 minutes. Remove foil, then break crackers into pieces about 1½ inches square.

Enjoy!!
