I stumbled upon this website: http://www.freerice.com and thought I’d share. They give you a vocabulary word and you select the answer, in multiple choice format. They donate 20 grains of rice to the United Nations for every word you get correct. I spent about 5 minutes answering the words, and I decided I needed to know how many grains of rice would make a serving. I Googled a bit and came up with 2,000 grains = 1/4 cup. I pulled out my Minute Rice box and found that 1/2 cup dry rice makes one full cup cooked, which is equal to one serving. I figured if I could spend 15 minutes a day answering vocab words that would equate to a donation of one serving of rice every two days, to someone who is going hungry and cannot afford to buy food, then I might as well give it a try.

I did spend exactly 15 minutes to get up to 2,000 grains of rice before coming to post about this here, it seems like a good cause and a good way to help out others.

This site launched in October of 2007… to date, they have donated 17,078,325,370 grains of rice. If my math is correct, that is 4,269,581 one cup servings of rice (cooked). That is so great! Hopefully, more and more people will take time to use this site and make this total bigger!

Warm Fuzzies

A friend of mine, Marcy, sent me this nifty little greeting. I was literally ROFLMAO when I saw her 4 adorable kids dancing on my computer monitor. It was hilarious! You can only make 4 elves on each greeting… which didn’t really meet my needs but I made it work anyway by making two of them. PLEASE go see these! Then I made one with David, Tanner, and myself. Do you know how long it took me to find a full on facial shot of David? Forever!! I had to go back to our Family Reunion in 2006! And, actually… the one I ended up using is not the greatest. It shows him at his finest… grumpy gus LOL.

match your picture to the celebrities you most resemble. I uploaded pics of all of us and published the results below! I found it interesting that Tanner’s first match was Wayne Brady (FUNNY!)  They are pretty good I think though….

UPDATE: I played with pictures of my mom, sister, nephew, dad, Elaine and mother in law this afternoon.  Not sure about Laners pics — what is up with that? LOL… it really should be Curious George like I always call him He reminds me so much of him!!! And, yes my dad’s first match was Stalin!!! Those of you cool people who know him personally, it rightly fits don’t it?
