REG’s Free Family Film Festival is Now Showing!
We have planned a fun-filled summer of select movies for kids and parents. Regal has proudly offered this free summer fun since 1991. Oh, did we mention that it’s FREE!

Selected G or PG movies start at 10:00am every Tuesday and Wednesday during the festival. Tickets and seating are first-come, first-served and are limited to theatre capacity.

The Free Family Film Festival is safe, lots of fun and a great way for kids to spend a weekday morning in the summer. Tickets for our 2010 Free Family Film Festival are exclusively available at select theatres’ box office on the day of the show.

Here is a listing of movies for our closest theater, so you can see an example of the movie titles playing. I’ve been more impressed in previous years. Rugrats The Movie, really? But, they are free — and there are a few good ones in there. They pretty much rotate the same titles at other theaters in the area also, but you can check your local free movies showtimes here.

Snippet of Tanner with RHS Band

Jun-11-2010 By Jessica

School is winding down for the year, which means the last of the band, music and choir concerts have been attended. Last night was Tanner’s last band concert. He’s played the clarinet since 5th grade, so almost 5 years now. It’s been a fun to watch his progression. In the little snippet we got last night, he’s right in front, on the other side of the “head” that is partially in the way. :)

Cornflake Crusted French Toast

Jun-9-2010 By Jessica

A few weeks ago, I treated to David to breakfast at our favorite restaurant in our town called Carol’s Corner Cafe. Well.. it’s pretty much the only restaurant ;) but it’s certainly a good one. Blows IHOP out of the water every day of the week! David ordered the French toast for the first time ever. I had my traditional eggs, bacon, and hashbrowns. I about died when his french toast arrived. It was the most amazing looking creation. I didn’t manage to get a picture, but take my word for it - it was eye popping-ly beautiful. I had a tiny taste and wanted to send my breakfast back for that instead. I didn’t…. and David was nice enough to make a trade for some of my regular toast, but of course I came home wondering if I could google myself up a similar recipe. No such luck, yet. There are some out there, of course, but nothing that would even come close in comparison. I tried my hand at one recipe tonight, courtesy of one I found at cooks.com. It was good — not quit the same but good enough for tonight :)

Here’s the recipe:

Cornflake Crusted French Toast

INGREDIENTS
4 slices of white bread
3 eggs or 1/2 cup egg substitute
1/4 cup milk
1 cup corn flakes cereal - crushed to make about 3/4 cup
1 tablespoon butter - for frying
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 pinch salt
powered sugar - for dusting
maple syrup - warmed

DIRECTIONS
Heat a griddle or large fry pan to medium-high heat (about 325 degrees if using an electric griddle).
Cut each slice of bread into 3 strips.

Place the crushed corn flakes in a large shallow bowl.

In a large mixing bowl, beat the eggs with the milk, cinnamon, vanilla and salt.

Grease the griddle or fry pan with butter.

One at a time, drag each strip of bread through the egg mixture - coating completely. Then drag the individual strips through the crushed corn flakes, so that a scattered amount of corn flakes sticks to both flat sides of the bread.

Carefully transfer the sticks to the fry pan or griddle. Cook both sides until nicely browned (2 to 3 minutes per side). The second side always browns a little faster than the first.

Transfer french toasts sticks to a paper towel lined plate. Allow sticks to cool until safe to the touch. Dust top side with powdered sugar.

To serve, arrange 6 French toast sticks on a plate around a small dish of warm maple syrup. All that’s left is to dip in and have a great breakfast.

Lady Antebellum is the best country band I’ve heard in a long, long time. I would say they are giving Sugarland (my absolute favorite!) a run for their money, but I consider them a duo — not a band :) LOVE THEM! Found this from a reputable source (setlist.fm) — so excited that Lady Antebellum is coming to the Rose Quarter in Portland on 5/22/10 with Tim McGraw. Both are my favorites. WOOHOO! Can’t wait!

Getting Ready for Disneyland…

Feb-16-2010 By Jessica

We are 38 days away from our Southern California trip - YAHOO! Very exciting! There is still so much to do to prepare for this trip, I am in NO rush. We are hitting Disneyland/California Adventures for 3 days, Sea World for 1 day and Universal Studios for 1 day. We will have 1 day with nothing planned just to enjoy the California sunshine (praying for that anyway!)

The kids got a special treat in the mail today. Several Disney characters were kind enough to send us postcards. VERY special. It made the girls smile ear to ear. Tanner even got one from Eeyore, and though he wasn’t as excited as the girls, it was nice for him to be remembered :) *I* even got one addressed to “Princess Jessica”. SWEET! Loved it… and just adds to the anticipation of our trip. :) :)

If you are considering a trip to any of the Disney parks, I highly recommend looking into a “Fairy Godmother” for your family. I found mine at www.mouseplanet.com, more specifically this forum thread.

Happy 7th Birthday Bailey!!

Feb-14-2010 By Jessica

Ahhh… I can’t believe my BABY is 7. I don’t know how this happened, but I know it does not feel like she should be THIS OLD. My babies are growing up way too quickly. Sad…

Bailey went roller skating on Saturday with her BFF Alexus. We then took them to the movies to see “The Tooth Fairy”. Cute movie and Bailey had been begging to see it. She asked me a few days ago if I could do something for her birthday that would surprise her. Her examples were concert tickets for Taylor Swift or a vacation. LOL. I said we already have a big vacation planned and can’t do any big surprises. She understood and then said maybe we could go to a movie and see The Tooth Fairy. I decided that was a surprise I could pull off :) So they didn’t know about it until we pulled into the parking lot. She was very excited. It was a great day and she had her first sleepover with her BF also… hopefully it was a very memorable way to celebrate her 7th birthday!

Pics…

Bailey’s gorgeous birthday cake that Grandma Lisa made. A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!

Happy Valentine’s Day!

Feb-14-2010 By Jessica

We had heart shaped caramel french toast and scrambled eggs tinted pink with food coloring for breakfast and heart shaped pizza for dinner. It was Bailey’s 7th Birthday also, she had picked the pizza for dinner. It’s been a tradition we’ve had anyway - Papa Murphy’s makes these cute pizzas :)

The kids each got something fun for Valentine’s Day gifts. Mostly just candy (ya know… just to make our dentist proud of us) and a few other little goodies. My mom got all of us (even David and I — spoiled brats that we are!!) little boxes of chocolate with $10 Regal gift cards. Woohoo! Now we can all go see a movie for free - that will be so nice to use one of these days! Thank you, Mom!

More pictures to come from Bailey’s birthday!
